What is SKIP?

The Statewide Knowledge Implementation Plan is a response to a need to coordinate efforts in bringing evidence-based practices to substance abuse work in Iowa. A work group was established to examine how Iowa could effectively support the transfer of evidence-based practices statewide and suggest what processes may need to be in place to support the selection, implementation and evaluation of such a task.

The SKIP work group is expected to continue over time with a mandate to set the path for examining the efficacy of science-based substance abuse treatment practices for potential statewide implementation. As evidence-based practices become available for consideration, the membership is prepared to review the support literature for validity, viability for Iowa, evaluate challenges regarding implementation based on all membership perspectives and make recommendations for statewide implementation, using previously developed protocols as a guidepost.
