There are many discussion groups through Google Groups or Yahoo Groups on the internet. Enter a search for substance abuse, substance abuse treatment, addiction treatment, or drug abuse treatment in order to find groups to join, and ask questions or request information regarding evidence-based practices. At this time we cannot find a discussion forum that deals directly with this issue. You might also want to look at the Web of Addictions for a list.

The National Association of Alcohol and Drug Counselors (NAADAC) is a professional organization for those working in the treatment field. Their website supports its members on the web and has links to current topics.

The National Associations of Treatment Providers (NAATP) is an association for addiction professionals created to promote, assist and enhance the delivery of ethical, effective, research-based treatment for alcoholism and other drug addictions.

Please contact us, if you believe that having a specific listserv/discussion forum for evidence-based issues in Iowa would be useful to you and if you would be willing to participate in it. If enough people are interested the Consortium will work on hosting one.
